About
Hi, I’m Patrick Gregory
As a Professor of Practice in Finance, I draw on decades of industry experience to mentor and inspire the next generation of investment professionals. I work side-by-side with students as they tackle real-world portfolio challenges, guiding them through equity research, model building, and valuation. Using live market data and the latest AI tools, I create an experiential learning environment where theory meets practice and every student gains the knowledge and skills to excel in today’s dynamic financial markets. Some of what I teach is discussed in detail in my book, Why Stocks Go Up and Down
Outside the classroom, I advise investment firms, foundations and endowment, and family offices, helping them navigate complex financial markets with clarity and confidence. I also contribute to Babson College’s long-term financial stewardship as a member of both the Board of Trustees Investment Committee, Hedge Fund Sub-Committee, and the Retirement Program Investment Committee.
My expertise has also been called upon in investment-related litigation as an expert witness, and my commentary has appeared on CNN and CNBC, as well as in The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, The Boston Globe, LA Times, Houston Chronicle. I also share weekly insights as part of my blog (link).
I hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and taught the curriculum for ten years in Boston and at firms such as Fidelity Investments, Wellington Management, and T. Rowe Price. I also actively contribute to the professional community through my role on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for CFA Boston, where I am currently the Secretary of the 6,000-member organization.
Whether in the classroom, the boardroom, or in the media, I’m passionate about demystifying finance and empowering others to make informed investment decisions.
